Born in Rochester NY, Bob started playing piano by ear at age 5. Bob got serious at age 15 when he met local jazz piano great, Barry Keiner, a high school buddy, and by age 17, was playing professional gigs with friends, rock and roll, blues, pop and some jazz. At age 22, he broke into the Jazz night club scene and backed talented local singer Debbie Chamberlain playing classic standards and some pop tunes. For the next several years through 1988, Bob backed other local vocalists and horn players. In 1989, he went on his own to form The Bobby DiBaudo Trio and played a number of venues in the Rochester area. He also added to his trio, Syracuse vocalists Ronnie Leigh, Nancy Kelly, Tom Monte, and Vocalist/Trumpet Player, Jon Seiger. Starting in year 2000, In addition to leading his trio and quartet, Bob began working as a pianist with Jon Seiger’s Dixieland Band, "Jon Seiger and the All Stars", playing Jazz Festivals such as the Ocho Rios in Jaimaca, The Heritage in New Orleans, the Sun Coast in Clearwater Florida, The Tarragona Jazz Fest in Tarragona Spain, and many more.
His main love is Jazz and Blues piano, playing the classic standards in a trio setting (piano, bass, and drums). Bob swings hard and although completely self taught, has gained the respect of his peers in the Rochester and surrounding areas. His first CD "IT MIGHT AS WELL BE SWING" (samples are heard on this web site) has been played on Rochester's two local jazz radio stations, WGMC and Northcoast Radio helping to make it one of the best selling local CDs.
Bob generates life, passion and excitement in his playing with excellent use of dynamics, feel and forms a soulful bond with his fellow musicians as well as the audience. He plays at local clubs such as The Lodge at Woodcliff, The Montage, The Bistro in E. Rochester, Oak Hill CC and many private engagements as well.
Bob has also arranged and produced several jazz and pop CDs for other vocalists. In addition, he has engineered many recording projects in his own studio including his first two CDs. He is highly proficient in utilizing midi software and direct to disc digital recording tools (MOTU) as a means to generate backgrounds and then record the live vocalist and/or instrumentation with pristine quality.
Bob is available upon request to develop custom back-grounds for demos and CD projects along with arranging and production using his talent, experience and style to meet the high standards of the most discriminating vocalist.
